Why Paint Protection Film

Paint is the one part of a vehicle you cannot put back the way it came. A front end living on gravel shoulders and mountain two-lanes takes a beating no highway car sees, and every piece of grit that hits bare paint leaves something behind. Film gives it a layer to land on instead.

The topcoat is self-healing, so light swirls and fine scratches pull back out with heat from the sun or warm water. It will not repair a scratch that rips all the way through the film, and we would rather tell you that up front than let you find out later.

The math is the easy part. Film costs a fraction of repainting a bumper, and a repaint never quite matches factory paint. On a lease it protects your condition report. On something you plan to keep, it protects what the car is worth the day you sell it.

Why Shaded Industries For PPF

Finished car in the dust-controlled paint protection film bay at Shaded Industries in Canton, NC

Plenty of shops lay film in an open bay with the door up. Whatever is floating around that day gets sealed under the film for as long as it is on the car.

Ours goes on in a dust-controlled bay with misting systems running, after a full decontamination wash and a clay bar that pulls grit out of the paint. Edges get wrapped and heat sealed instead of left sitting where they can lift. Then it is inspected by an installer and a service advisor before anyone hands you the keys.

One spec, not a shelf of them: ceramic-infused with a hydrophobic topcoat, 8 to 10 mil thick, in clear gloss, matte or colored. We are car enthusiasts. By enthusiasts, for enthusiasts.

  • Ceramic-infused film with a self-healing hydrophobic topcoat, 8 to 10 mil
  • Clear gloss, matte or colored, and panel-by-panel builds if a package does not fit
  • Quoted on the vehicle in front of us, never off a price list
  • Owner-operated since 2021, and Devon still trains every installer himself
  • Military and first responder discounts, active and retired

How It Works

Four steps, and the first two are where most of the work happens.

Clay bar decontamination on a dark car before paint protection film in Canton, NC
01

Decontamination

Deep wash and clay bar. Whatever is on the paint when the film goes on stays there, so we do not rush it.

Plotter cutting a bumper pattern from paint protection film in Canton, NC
02

Precision Plotting

Plotter-cut to your vehicle, patterns modified so edges wrap instead of stopping short. No line where a fingernail can catch it.

Laying paint protection film onto a car hood in a dust-controlled bay in Canton, NC
03

Cleanroom Install

Laid in a dust-controlled bay with misting running. The difference between film that looks like paint and film you spot from ten feet away.

Heat sealing a wrapped paint protection film edge inside a fender lip in Canton, NC
04

Quality Assurance

Edges wrapped and heat sealed, moisture given time to cure, then inspected before the car goes back.

Devon’s rule on pace: quality paint protection film installations cannot be rushed. The next job is not our concern while your vehicle is in our shop.

Every RWB is a one-off, and this one carries the name “QC1”. It came to us for paint protection film ahead of Eurofest SE, so there was no second attempt.

Cars like this are why prep matters more than film. Every panel was washed and decontaminated first, because whatever is on the paint stays there.

How Long It Lasts

The film is built to last 8 to 10 years with normal care. We match the manufacturer’s 10-year warranty against yellowing, cracking and peeling, and the craftsmanship is backed by us.

Pairs Well With

Getting the glass done at the same time is the best moment to do it. One drop-off, one crew.

Ceramic Coating

Goes over the film so the whole car sheds water and washes faster. Ask when you book.

Areas We Serve

The film work happens at the shop, in a controlled bay.

Canton. Home base since 2021. Trucks and daily drivers living on gravel shoulders and mountain two-lanes, where a front end takes a beating no highway car sees.

Asheville. About 20 minutes east, an easy drive over from Asheville. Two franchise dealerships there send us their customer vehicles for tint upgrades and packages.

Waynesville and Clyde. Ten to fifteen minutes out. Repeat trucks and work vehicles, most likely to start with a bumper and add panels later.

Further out across Western North Carolina is fine too, people make the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does paint protection film cost in Canton?

We quote every job on the vehicle itself, so there is no price list here. Each vehicle is different, and quoting individually is the only honest way to stay competitive. Coverage is the biggest lever: a bumper and partial hood costs a fraction of full armor.

Does paint protection film really self heal?

Yes, within limits, and the limit matters. The topcoat is self-healing, so light swirls and fine scratches pull back out with heat from the sun or warm water. What it will not do is repair a scratch that rips through the film.

Can I get paint protection film and ceramic coating together?

Yes, and a lot of people do. The film takes the physical hits like rock chips and road debris, and the coating goes over the top so the car sheds water and washes faster. Different problems, so running both is not redundant.

Is paint protection film worth it?

Depends what the car is worth to you. Film costs a fraction of repainting a bumper, and a repaint never matches factory paint. On a lease it protects your condition report. On a keeper it protects resale.

How long does paint protection film last?

The film is designed to last 8 to 10 years with proper care. We match the manufacturer’s 10-year warranty against yellowing, cracking and peeling, and we stand behind the install. Wash it like you would wash paint.

Can paint protection film be removed?

Yes. A trained installer heats the film and pulls it back to bare paint, which is what a sacrificial layer is for. The paint underneath comes out the way it went under. Do not attempt it yourself on a hot panel.
